Barak Sober, Ph.D
principal researcher and founder of the Scripta/Sepctra.
Dr. Sober is a senior lecturer of statistics and data Science and digital humanities at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. His research interests include computerized paleography, hyperspectral imaging of archeological artifacts and art creations and the application of mathematical and statistical methods in digital humanities as well as analysis of high dimensional data from a geometrical perspective.

Dr. Sober completed his master's degree in mathematics in Tel Aviv University.
He proceeded to complete a Ph.D degree in applied mathematics also in Tel-Aviv University.

Iris Arad, Ph.D
Head of the Hyperspectral Imaging Laboratory at Scripta/Spectra.
Dr. Arad worked for many years as a professional programmer and information scientist in the high tech and health industries. In the course of her work she specialized in mass digitization of printed documents, exploring the techincal, logistic and linguistic aspects of digitizing scientific texts. Her research interests include digital image processing and optical character recognition as well as text processing and corpus linguistics.

Dr. Arad completed a master of arts degree in general linguistics at Reading University, UK. She completed a master of science degree in machine translation at the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology, UK, where she also received her Ph.D in computational linguistics. She has an additional master's degree in library science from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Gideon (Gidi) Yoffe, Ph.D Candidate
Gidi is a Statistics and Data Science Ph.D candidate and MA student at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and Tel Aviv University, respectively. Originally an astrophysicist, Gidi develops a novel, statistically-rigorous paradigm for a scientific computational approach for studying text stylistics in general, and biblical and bible-related texts specifically.

Shir Moshe, Ph.D Candidate
Shir received her M.Sc at the department of statistics at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem where she is now working towards her Ph.D. Her research concentrates on stochastic manifold approximation and using mathematical models to study ancient inscriptions. Shir is a fellow of The Ariane de Rothschild fellowship.

 

 

Ariel Vishne, M.A Candidate
Ariel is studying for a master's degree in data science. His thesis concentrates on biblical computational linguistics and stylometry.

 

 

 

Yishai Shor, M.A Candidate
Yishai is an M.Sc. student in data science. His research deals with identifying different writers in the Dead Sea Scrolls with the help of image processing algorithms and statistical methods. Yishai graduated with honors in PPE (philosophy, economics and political science) at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and was on the dean's list for master's degree in Data Science. Yishai receives a research scholarship for outstanding students from the Department of Statistics.
